For the second year I decided to participate in the A-Z Blogging Challenge. Each April bloggers write for 26 days (Sundays off). Each day is a consecutive letter of the alphabet.
Many bloggers post on a theme such as poetry, photography or an aspect of writing.
This year, since my poetry and very short fiction collection, The Bench published, I thought a preview would be appropriate.
Today is April 2nd Brought to you by the letter B

The Flower and the Butterfly: A Love Story
The purple aster plump with nectar bends in the wind throwing off her sweet smell while petals float in the breeze.
A butterfly, in hues of gold and vermillion, sniffs the air finding an aroma in the west.
He follows the scent, hovers, flaps wings over the aster, questioning.
Aster churns out her sugar.
Soundless, the petals caress the butterfly who snuggles into the nest of ambrosia
and falls into the flower rubbing his head against the petal pillows.
The bloom envelopes the insect, and purple tinges his gold while spots of yellow merge into the aster’s purple.
They laugh.

As with the previous post this too is a Drabble (a story in 100 words). You may have guessed drabbles are my preferred writing style, when possible.
Brightly anticipating your Blogs
What’s the most unusual love story you’ve ever written?
Wonderful! More please. 🙂
LOL you’ve got more!
The most unusual love story I wrote…I haven’t shared it yet, but it’s written and you made me think of it. 😉
then my job is done –
I write love or romance scenes, and have to say they’re not always easy to get right, and make believable. I’m in awe of romance writers. Don’t know if I’d be able to write a romance novel. Loved your piece here, especially as they laugh.

thank you – I liked that line too
Love this 🙂
thank you
A beautiful story about nature and its happenings. Who’s to say the butterfly doesn’t truly love the flower, they are territorial. Perhaps they were destined to be together, lovers from one life to the next… Very lovely, Sue! 🙂
geeze you’re such the romantic lol
That’s me, all romantic & girly!!! I think I’ll change my blog to The Pink Angel… lol ;P
You just do that Nina – giggle
Very beautiful Susan! The most unusual love story I’ve ever written about was about a man and a zombie, but the zombies were not the typical shuffling type who want to consume flesh. They’re just a by-product of an event and as a result, the world needs to learn how to cope with them. It’s a little racy but sweet at times too. One of my favourite stories to date 🙂
I would have guessed – zombie 😀
Loved it, beautiful piece 🙂
thanks very much
I can see why you like drabble. Lovely poem. I’ll never think of drabble in the same way again. .
thank you Actually a drabble is not a poem but a very short story. Though butterfly reads as poetry. It was an interesting challenge and one of my favs
Right, of course it’s not a poem. A lovely short story. Thanks, Susan.
But with 100 words in a Drabble, I can’t go on and on and babble lol That was sure a different take, nicely done
but as writers we’re not supposed to “babble” each word must count be it 100 or 10,000 right 😀
I love the word Drabble, it’s one of those words you can roll your tongue around.
just like I roll the words around lol
